Emigrating to Kenya: An overview of the political system

Climate in Kenya: Important information for emigrants

Kenya has three main climate zones. In the highlands, which start at an altitude of around 1,800 m, there is a rainy season from April to June and from October to November, with most of the rain falling at night. The nights are cool, especially in the coldest months of July and August, when temperatures drop to around 10°C. In the warmest months of January and February, temperatures rise to around 25 to 26°C and humidity is a comfortable 65%. At Lake Victoria, temperatures tend to be higher and there is more rainfall. The temperate climate here contributes to a pleasant stay in the highlands. On the coast, for example in Mombasa, temperatures fluctuate between 22 and 32°C, with a humidity of 75%. The rainiest months are from April to June, while January and February are the driest and warmest months. The coolest temperatures are recorded in July and August.

Healthcare system in Kenya: Important facts for emigrants

Kenya is a popular destination for expats looking for a unique living experience in Africa, thanks to its stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife and year-round warm climate. In recent years, the country's healthcare system has improved significantly, but there are still some challenges that need to be considered for healthcare in Kenya. The Kenyan healthcare system is divided into three main categories: public providers, private non-profit organizations (including faith-based and mission hospitals as well as local and international NGOs) and private for-profit healthcare providers.

Emigrating to Kenya: An overview of the economic situation and quality of life

In 2023, Kenya's gross domestic product per capita amounted to around 2,245.28 US dollars. The Gini coefficient of wealth describes the distribution of wealth. The indicator is an established, internationally comparable measure of wealth inequality. It is measured on a scale from zero to one. The higher the value, the greater the inequality. The Gini coefficient in Morocco is expected to be 0.39 in 2024 (source: Statista).

In Kenya, income and resources are very unequally distributed regionally and socially. Poverty is particularly pronounced in the north of the country, where the population suffers considerably from various crises. These crises include the economic impact of the corona pandemic, an extreme drought and drastic price increases for food and fertilizer due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. For people looking to emigrate to Kenya, it is important to be aware of the regional differences and challenges. Five consecutive failed rainy seasons have led to significant crop losses and losses in milk production. Pastoralist communities are forced to travel long distances in search of water and food, leading to increasing conflict with the local population. More than five million people in Kenya are acutely threatened by hunger. These factors should be carefully considered when deciding to emigrate to Kenya.

Skiing between the Atlantic and the Sahara

Morocco is known for its oriental culture, desert landscapes and beautiful beaches - but also for winter sports? From Marrakech, it's only 80 kilometers south and you're already immersed in Morocco's winter wonderland. Lonely, snow-covered mountain villages will make you wonder whether you are still in Africa at all. It is hardly known, but the High Atlas is a true paradise for skiers. The center for winter sports enthusiasts is located on Djebel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa at 4167 meters. Oukaimeden is the largest ski resort, with 23 kilometers of slopes and ten lifts. It also offers a curious sight: While the southern side is almost always free of snow, there is usually plenty of white splendor on the northern slopes. And where else in the world can you look directly onto the desert from the slopes?

Can I use my own container that I already own for the move with DACHSER & KOLB?

Are my removal goods insured in the event of damage?

For every overseas move, we naturally cover transportation insurance at current value for the used household goods and personal belongings

What types of transportation do you offer for overseas relocation?

It is generally possible to carry out overseas removals via air freight or sea freight. In the case of sea freight, it is possible to ship the removal goods as additional cargo (“LCL shipment” with Liftvan) or with a container (FCL shipment in 20 feet, 40 feet or 40 feet high cube). We will be happy to discuss which option is best for you in a personal consultation.

You will receive an invoice a few weeks after placing the order and pay the full amount directly in advance.
